Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

IJETCC PUBLICATION ETHICS AND PUBLICATION MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

Publication malpractice represents an unfortunate occurrence within scholarly literature. The prevention of such malpractice is a collective responsibility shared by every author, editor, and reviewer affiliated with IJETCC. Unethical behaviour and publication malpractice are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Prisma Publication, as the publisher of IJETCC, maintains a transparent and readily accessible statement outlining its publication ethics and policies regarding publication malpractice. The publisher assumes responsibility and accountability for adhering to and upholding these policies.

Prisma Publication acknowledges its responsibility for the authors' verification and review process of submitted articles. IJETCC, being a peer-reviewed journal, openly asserts the crucial role of such journals in constructing a cohesive and reputable network of knowledge. Consequently, the following standards are upheld.

Duties of Publisher

The publisher's foremost responsibility is to acknowledge and appreciate the substantial contributions of IJETCC journal editors and peer reviewers in upholding the scholarly record's integrity. The publisher must actively support, invest in, and foster a significant role in the scholarly communication process, particularly addressing concerns related to plagiarism and malpractice.

Duties of Editors

The editors of the IJETCC journal are responsible for determining the articles to be published and ensuring the validation of submitted work. In fulfilling this responsibility, the editors adhere to the policies set forth by the IJETCC editorial board. Legal requirements about libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism bind them. They are committed to upholding the integrity of the published record, achieved through the thorough review and assessment of reported or suspected misconduct. In cases where convincing evidence of misconduct is found, the editors will take appropriate actions such as issuing corrections, retractions, or other relevant measures to maintain the accuracy of the record. Additionally, every manuscript undergoes an originality check before publication.

Additionally, the editors will make appropriate efforts to detect any misconduct, such as plagiarism. IJETCC follows the complete and detailed definition, corrective action, and suitable punishments outlined on the Elsevier webpage on plagiarism and malpractice: https://www.elsevier.com/editors/perk/legal-guide-for-editors

Articles meeting certain conditions will be declined for publication by editors:

  • Plagiarism, defined as using someone else's words or ideas without proper acknowledgment and bibliographic references, is strictly prohibited in submitted articles.
  • Articles will be rejected if the content is unoriginal or has been previously published in the same or different periodicals or collective works. This includes auto-plagiarism. However, paraphrased fragments, particularly data and information from the author's earlier work, are acceptable and not considered plagiarism.
  • Articles proved to be written through ghostwriting, where significant contributions from another individual are not disclosed as authors or acknowledged in the publication, or guest authorship, where the contribution is minimal or non-existent. Still, the person credited as an author or co-author will not be accepted.
  • Lastly, submitted articles may be declined if they receive two negative reviews and a recommendation for rejection.

Unethical behaviour procedures

Recognizing unethical behaviour and outlining the procedures to address it are crucial aspects of IJETCC's commitment. The journal emphasizes that all misconduct allegations will be treated with the utmost seriousness and addressed thoroughly until a resolution is reached. Individuals reporting unethical conduct to the IJETCC editor or publisher must provide comprehensive information and evidence to initiate a proper investigation. This reporting can be made at any time by any concerned individual. IJETCC will conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the presence and nature of any unethical behaviour. The outlined process is as follows:

Misconduct

  • When addressing minor misconduct classified as unethical behaviour, the author will be allowed to respond to allegations. Additional consultation with a limited number of experts may be sought if needed. Upon receiving the author's response, the editor will determine the formal and official resolution for all minor breaches. The decisions are presented below in ascending order of severity.
  • In cases of serious misconduct, informing the accused individual's employers may be necessary. In collaboration with the publisher, the editor will decide whether to engage the employer(s) based on a thorough examination of available evidence or through additional consultation with a select group of experts.

Investigation

  • The editor, in consultation with and/or seeking advice from the publisher, is responsible for making the initial decision.
  • An earnest effort is made to gather evidence while ensuring that allegations are not disseminated beyond the individuals directly involved.

Decisions

  • Provide guidance or instruction to the author or reviewer in cases of misunderstanding or misunderstanding of accepted standards.
  • Issue a more strongly worded communication to the author or reviewer addressing the misconduct, serving as a formal warning for future conduct.
  • Publish a formal notice detailing the specific misconduct for the benefit of the wider academic community.
  • Release an editorial that comprehensively outlines and discusses the identified misconduct.
  • Draft and send a formal letter to the head of the authors or reviewers, notifying them of the unethical behaviour.
  • Formally retract and/or withdraw a publication from IJETCC, simultaneously informing the author or reviewer's Abstracting & Indexing services and the publication's readership.
  • Impose an official ban on an individual's contributions for a specified period, as determined by the editor (commonly up to one complete publishing cycle) as a consequence of unethical conduct.
  • Report instances of unethical behaviour and their outcomes, if necessary, to a higher authority or professional organization for further investigative action.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

The International Journal of Data Informatics and Intelligent Computing acknowledges and respects requests to avoid assigning manuscripts for single blind peer-review to experts who may possess competing interests with the authors. Given that Editors cannot be fully aware of all potential competing interests, it is anticipated that reviewers will promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief or Handling Editor if they identify any such conflicts during the manuscript review process. Additionally, reviewers are expected to disclose to the Editors or the editorial office of the journal any conflicts of interest that may arise while reviewing a manuscript submitted by an author or contributor.

JOURNAL POLICIES ON DATA SHARING AND REPRODUCIBILITY

IJETCC is dedicated to fostering a more open research environment that facilitates the expeditious and impactful dissemination of research findings, emphasizing the reproducibility and validation of data, methodologies, and reporting standards. Authors publishing in IJETCC are strongly encouraged to share their research data, encompassing a range of elements such as raw data, processed data, software, algorithms, protocols, methods, and materials.

IJETCC promotes sharing data and supplementary materials that highlight the findings presented in the authors' papers. We encourage authors to archive such data in suitable public repositories. Authors may include a data availability statement and links to the chosen repository in their papers. Proper citation of shared data is essential. All accepted manuscripts can include a data availability statement affirming the presence of shared data. If data has been shared, this statement provides details on accessing the data, accompanied by a persistent identifier (e.g., DOI or login number) from the relevant repository.

To improve transparency, we encourage authors to explain the availability of their data in your submission. Your funding agency or organization may require this. Suppose the data is inaccessible or unsuitable for publication. In that case, the author will have the opportunity to explain the reasons during the submission process, for example, that the research data is confidential.

POST-PUBLICATION CHANGE POLICIES

Retractions

The IJETCC follows the COPE retraction guidelines. If material must be retracted, a retraction notice will be issued, and the DOI of the original publication will be directed to this notice.

Corrections

IJETCC is dedicated to maintaining accuracy in the scholarly record. While we rely on the editorial process to ensure the precision of articles, we acknowledge that corrections may be necessary for both text and metadata after publication.

Several potential issues may arise in academic manuscripts, including misspelled author names, affiliations, ORCID information, and instances of missing text. Additionally, errors in existing citations, supplementary materials, or data (not necessitating retraction) can be identified. Other common issues may include missing source credits or permission statements, overlooked references, and changes in affiliations. Addressing these concerns is crucial to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of scholarly publications.

Depending on the nature of the error, corrections will be indicated either through an appended footnote or a formal correction notice. Typically, minor changes will be addressed with a footnote notification, while major alterations that impact the meaning or interpretation of data will necessitate a correction notice.

Correction requests should be directed to the journal editor. If the editor considers the situation appropriate, collaboration with the production team will be initiated to implement the necessary changes.

Name/Pronoun Changes

Modifications to names and/or pronouns in articles will be accommodated upon request. Authors are encouraged to contact the journal editor, providing publication details and the desired changes. Unless specified otherwise, adjustments to online files and metadata will be implemented discreetly without a visible change notice.
